I've been taking Ranitidine (Zantac) for well over 40 years. Originally in 75mg doses in one case a 24-hour interval and so 10-15 years subsequently in 150mg doses once a twenty-four hours. Information technology has never failed me especially since I travelled around the world for over 20 years and ate the spiciest of foods. It was the just medication that has consistently helped me. Several times I tried ALL the other alternatives for various periods of fourth dimension (bet never more that 3-iv months) and the acrid reflux killed me. Nothing, and I mean nothing, worked like Ranitidine. I don't know what I volition do without it. I volition probably have to take 3-four times as many pills (450mg to 600 mg) of any of the other medications to exercise what a simple 150 mg dose did for me. I dear spicy foods so this is a huge disappointment for me. The cancer scare is just a lot of BS in my humble stance. There are hundreds, if non thousands, of products that have been proven to cause cancer (including plain water from cities around the world), so this is near probably a lot of "ado about cipher". I've had cancer (over 20 years ago), just non of annihilation related to the stomach, esophagus, intestines, or anything relating to what Ranitidine could have (probably) caused. I'm not a doctor, but I know my torso relatively well (having had over 25 surgeries – more often than not relating to broken bones), but take been tested constantly and continuously. Thus I definitely exercise not believe in this Ranitidine scare, and I certainly would be back on information technology immediately in one case information technology comes back on the market. Merely think almost it: breathing air in most cities effectually the earth introduces more than harmful carcinogens than swallowing thousands of Ranitidine pills. I hope the FDA gets their human activity together and starts working on Real problems, and not something that is potentially just a fairy tale.

can any of the wellness ministers or product CEO of ranidine tell the public what symptoms they should exist looking for? what tests they can get there family doctor to exercise to forbid whatsoever serious cancer out intermission? the public deserves to know. thanks

Don't panic everyone. Try common cold water ice cream for those heartburn days. Anything natural starting time equally these joke companies only care about making coin.. hell, plastic water bottles give me bad heartburn. Never have a problem with a metal or drinking glass container with water. As for the meds. Endeavor Pepcid AC with the famotidine.

I have been taking generic rx zantac 800 mg for over 3 years. Information technology worked not bad for me until about half-dozen months ago, now I take an almost abiding called-for in my upper stomach and a lot of acid coming in my pharynx. Subsequently reading about everyone taking this medication in way less doses and then I have, I am afraid to get to a gastrologist to encounter why I experience so much pain.

Eat a normal diet that is fruit, vegetables, whole grains and just normal real nutrient and finish eating pizza, cookies, any soft beverage or beer, in brusque anything laden with carbohydrate, hi fructose corn syrup, all your basic reconstituted corn molecules and y'all should exist fine. If you lot don't desire to practice that, and then yes look heartburn, information technology's a pretty obvious cause and issue scenario.

I just had a lung lobectomy due to very early detection of lung cancer.

I as well took Zantac for nigh a twelvemonth daily. I quit smoking most two years ago where I suspect this was the main culprit although I am now surprised to hear Zantac could have also caused the danger.

U tin can get a generic prescription of ranitidine 150mg or 300mg I get sixty 300 mg pills with no insurance pay out pocket and its 5 dollars its generic for zantac. I was looking for anything indicating if or when information technology will be available. Imperazole seems to piece of work ameliorate, but supposedly it may lead to brittle bones, which is a business organisation to old people like me.

I've been using zantac for quite a while. I find information technology crazy that the FDA would accept serious a whim from a Connecticut based online drug dealer to cause all this concern.

If Walgreens pulled Zantac off the shelf then why are they yet filling my husband's prescription for information technology? Doesn't it all contain a carcinogen?

Because it's a generic to zantac not the proper noun rx brand hence it'south non zantac it's just ranitidine hcl same ingredient but different formula zantac is pulling it because it's at that place name brand tbh commencement calcium supplements north vitamin d supplements they help just tbh just keep taking information technology if if notwithstanding fine from 20 years it's a carcinogen everyday we have in carcinogens sum even legal like alcohol n tobacco but billions and millions of deaths even so legal what a country

Same hither. Mine but got filled yesterday.

In terms of the level of business organization, it's three parts per million. Very, very small amounts," Professor Kelly said.

"Nosotros've now tested 135 different batches of this medicine, and we're finding about 75 per cent of those are positive above that level of iii parts per million.

"If someone were to take a ranitidine tablet for their entire life for 70 years, every 24-hour interval, then the gamble of cancer may go up by near one in 100,000, so I think you can see from those figures it's a very pocket-size risk."

Where did you go the numbers from?

One would question, is that number still the same, 70 years 1 in 100,000, for those who have been taking ranitidine long term and are immunosuppressed? Or does there need to be an additional study for this grouping?

after reading all these comments I have a very basic question–is the NDMA added to Zantac past the manufacturer ?(in which case what goes in can too come up out, regardless of the legal questions that arise)–or is it some kind of naturally occurring substance ( as in the air, like mold) that cannot be avoided?
If the erstwhile, there is a solution, if the latter, you need to alter the recipe, no?

The problem is the actual molecule "ranitidine." The molecule itself is unstable and can interact with stomach conditions (and in some instances, even interact with itself – like when heated to 130 degrees celsius) to course nDMA. I think zantaccancer.com published the citizens petition from valisure that has all the information.

My dr prescribed ranitidine the 24-hour interval after the recall. When I asked virtually it, she said she would write me a prescription so the pharmacy would give me pills from an unaffected lot, as opposed to what'due south on the over-the-counter shelf. This puts me in their system to exist notified if the one I am taking also becomes an issue. I suggest you talk to a dr and see if you get the aforementioned answer. I am now using it but prescription only. It is very affordable. Y'all are right, it works cracking.

I similar many others all over the earth accept been taking ranitidine dollar full general brand or Walmart brand for at to the lowest degree 15 years and for 10 of those years I take taken information technology daily forth with prilosec because ranitidine is fast acting and prilosec is long acting but I can't always afford to take prilosec with information technology and so 80% of those ten years take been ranitidine at least 4-16 150mg tablets in 24 hours because ranitidine is just a acid reducer then heartburn usually returns within eight hours after my first dose of 6 in the morning. So yes I am struggling with what I am going to do and what I tin beget because other than ranitidine no other medication has worked for me at all except of class prilosec. I have always been told by my physician that the ranitidine itself isn't what causes cancer only having GERD and other stomach or esophageal problems that cause severe heartburn and hurting forth with it being and so bad like myself that I threw upwardly for at least 12 years out of the fifteen that I had taken ranitidine and what causes cancer is when you do not get the proper treatment for these diseases or stomach problems and so years of your tum acid constantly beingness thrown upwards into your esophagus your rima oris throat and gums this is actually what causes cancer so basically if you can't beget insurance and yous have been denied medicaid and y'all go along taking medications that are only a temporary fix and not medicine that heals the issues so fact is you well-nigh likely will have esophageal cancer or glue disease or pharynx cancer and impairment so I guess question really is what pick will yous make either exist in farthermost pain or take medication that is only temporarily helping not fixing the trouble and either fashion yous end up with cancer so why endure when the odds are against you no affair which direction you turn

I have suffered with heartburn most all my life. I had gastric featherbed surgery in 2004 and was told my heartburn would magically cease……NOT! Lol in 2016 I was rushed to the hospital, died twice on the fashion and again afterward arrival. I was in the hospital and rehab for 61 days. I literally had to larn to walk over again equally my legs just simply quit working. Long story but I was diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis which is a condition where toxins in the body suddenly inundation the kidneys and they shut down. It poisons the trunk. My medico asked how long I had taken the high dose I took of ranitidine daily. Of form I had taken information technology 20+ years since it became available OTC. He clearly blamed this medication for what happened to me, he said it had a high metabolic rate and the continued use at loftier dosages built upward in the kidneys until they just only were out. Never had I heard annihilation about this before he told me. After I got habitation I saw i of those "lawsuit" ads which stated basically what my dr. told me. So, cancer isn't the simply danger with this medication, please use information technology charily I would'nt wish what happened to me on anyone else, even my worst enemy.

Effort famotidine in place of ranitidine

I agree with you totally because I am in your same boat, can't become Medicaid, tin can't afford insurance so what choice practice we have? Simply i that has the same issue, merely one has less suffering.

I have Barrets syndrome from years of acid reflux. Finally went to a Gastroenterologist who suggested aloe vera juice along with pantroprazole and ii ranitadine per day. My reflux stopped immediately with the aloe vera, even earlier starting the other items. It's depression cost and has been used for thousands of years.

As soon as I heard there might be a problem, I bought a ii year supply. It should be my choice if I have it. I should exist able to sign a waiver. The quality of my life plummets fifty-fifty if I try something else. The other meds tell you to take it for merely a short time. That doesn't work for me at all. Quality over quantity.

I stopped taking it. I'one thousand looking for something else to accept that is condom. My center sunk when I saw it on the CBS World news last evening. It scared me to decease! Been on 150mg 2x per twenty-four hours for 5 years or so. Called my pharmacist when these seemingly deliberately vague articles began appearing. Chemist told me at the time (apx. 6 weeks ago) that merely over the counter Zanex was effected by recollect. Upon refilling my RX terminal week, after some other series of vaguely factual articles had been released, I asked my pharmacist if my prescription was safe. She checked her computer and said my prescription was from a non-involved manufacturer and was not included in call up. Am seeing my ear, nose and throat Dr. who prescribed this medication next month and will discuss options with him. Ranitidine has worked extremely well for me.

I took protonix for years. pepcid and nexium did non truly work. nexium caused a terrible palatableness and gave me atrocious GAS.. zantac is the only matter that worked after the insurance company stopped paying for protonix.. i've been taking generic zantac 75 mg three to four times a day for well-nigh ten years now… wonder if that causes problems.. (sigh)…

I don't know, I call back I am going to go on to take information technology. I appreciate the education but, anyone that suffers like I do, know that there is not much relief out there and not everything works for each private person. NDMA is a carcinogen and found in many daily things similar h2o, dairy, meat, etc. I just will have my chances because even the air nosotros exhale is dangerous. In my opinion I would rather think of it helping more than so then slowly killing me.

I don't know what all you lot accept tried, merely I could suggest drinking higher PH h2o such as element of group i water. My male parent-in-law used to accept to take a heartburn pill after each repast. After switching to alkaline water, he seldom takes a pill. Some people just need to change something in their diets to find relief. A lot of people look for a pill to treat the symptoms of a dietary insufficiency. If you just don't intendance, go to a cancer hospital and asking someone how it feels to become through chemo. I say this as a father to my toddler that has to take immunotherapy to correct her continuous battle with OMA(Opsoclonus Myoclonus Ataxia) from Neuroblastoma (cancer). Nosotros were prescribed Zantac for a month when she was a newborn. This was before discovering she was born with pyloric stenosis equally the medicine only seemed to brand her spit up more than. I practise not believe this to exist the crusade of her cancer, merely it may accept been a contributing cistron, as the cancer was not in her CT scan from when she had surgery to right the pyloric stenosis. Basically she wasn't built-in with the tumor. My only hope is that whoever reads this, is a piffling more than cautious so I was about the chemicals they put in and on their bodies, and the torso of their loved ones. It is no wonder that cancer is 1 in ii men and 1 in 3 women, when the food, apparel, drugs, shelters, and ,as you lot mentioned, air contain harmful homo made chemicals. For example, for years I used to employ head and shoulders for men, because I had a dry itchy scalp, and idea it smelled good. After my daughters pyloric stenosis surgery, we switched our lifestyle to introduce more than natural products. I switched to a natural shampoo and conditioner, and the dryness and itchiness stopped the next solar day.

October 9, 2019

I hear what y'all're saying and if you experience severe heartburn then it is absolutely necessary to detect relief, withal EACH of these pills is 400% OVER what is considered rubber. Unlike the levels found in meat, water, etc. So, with so many other options it merely doesn't make sense to proceed with this drug nether these circumstances.

Famotidine (Pepcid) is a reasonable alternative.

Corine Steele

October viii, 2019

Famotidine does not work the same as Ranitidine…I have already tried this.

Interesting plenty…I called the FDA last month about the Zantac. When I asked why it was nonetheless on the shelves, I was told "we are yet testing information technology, forth with other inhibitors"; when I asked what others, I was told Pepcid. Great! another md gave me that for my severe acid reflux.
Only thought I would let someone know.

Ranitidine is the only medicine I have found that I tin take with my heart condition…not sure what to do at present? I cannot have whatsoever other over-the-counter heartburn meds I take checked them all…(Pepcid never worked for me before I knew anout my centre status anyhow). Ugh! Which batches are affected? I have Barrett'due south esophagus. I've been on omperizole in the morning and ranitidine later on dinner. Never feel my reflux but I have stomach burning.
Wonder what's next.

Cigarettes crusade Cancer withal no one removes them from shelves WHY? Because too many top evil people in the earth would lose their precious money!
Including big pharma!

And so my doctor put me on Zantac a week agone…..after buying to bottles I found this out. I called the 800 number on box and the woman told me it was Not pulled off the market bu if im afraid of getting cancer than its up to me to not take it. I was amazed she said that considering Im asking her if its safe to take and her response was if Im Afraid? WTH? So do I take it or not????

Nexium is known for LOWERING your Claret Magnesium Level, which tin can impale you if information technology goes besides low. This is the aforementioned for Omeprazole. I was on Nexium and that is why they stopped it and put me on Ranitidine. I am struggling with trying to go along my Magnesium level up to the bare minimum of the normal range equally it is and cannot be on any other GERD Medicines other than Ranitidine. Since hearing about this call up, I have tried switching to taking "Organic Apple Cider Vinegar with the Mother" (ane Tablespoon 1-2 times a day) and amazing enough it works for me. You may want to endeavor this method–it's all natural. Chase vinegar with h2o or put information technology into a glass of water or applesauce.

Information technology's of import to be clear in your statements regarding product recalls.

Ii drug manufacturers take voluntarily withdrawn their products from the market place indefinitely due to NDMA contamination. As of this writing, the FDA has Not issued a blanket call back of all ranitidine products.

Sandoz has voluntarily recalled its 150mg and 300 mg ranitidine tablets. Apotex has voluntarily recalled its 75 mg and 150 mg ranitidine products in all delivery formats.

For those who asked, Pepcid (famotidine) and Tagamet (cimetidine) are the same class of drug as Zantac (H2 blockers). They work more slowly than ranitidine does.

—-
https://world wide web.fda.gov/condom/recalls-market-withdrawals-rubber-alerts/sandoz-inc-bug-voluntary-call up-ranitidine-hydrochloride-capsules-150mg-and-300mg-due-elevated

https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-rubber-alerts/apotex-corp-bug-voluntary-nationwide-recall-ranitidine-tablets-75mg-and-150mg-all-pack-sizes-and

Be careful substituting Tagamet (cimetidine) for Zantac (ranitidine). Tagamet (cimetidine) has many drug-drug interactions that Zantac (ranitidine) does not. I would feel okay with suggesting Pepcid (famotidine) in place of Zantac (ranitidine)

Allow'due south face it, living causes Cancer!

The number of drugs that turn out to be bad for the states and/or our dog's is ever irresolute. My Gilt Retriever took Apoquel for her allergies. I accept taken this drug for 7 years every solar day im 34 now i take this to deal with.

Take into consideration all the good meds they take brought along. H2 blockers saved my life from a devastating form c esophagitis that severely constricted my esophagus twice in my life. Every item you lot ingest, especially medicines, come up with a certain amount of hazard, especially over the long term equally they learn more and more nearly each of them, how they interact with certain people with certain medical conditions, and with other medicines. Not making whatever excuses for anybody, but let's non tear downwardly the whole manufacture due to something no 1, including the FDA, has whatever specific proof of nonetheless. In every situation, employ your God-given disquisitional thinking skills and evaluate what's right for your particular circumstance(s).

Yep, funny how Canada ( with gov. Sponsored health care) pulls Zantac, notwithstanding here in the good ol United states and large pharma and multi billion dollar insurance companies tell us everything is fine, nothing to see here. Money profits over health.

One and a one-half years ago I had to go into the hospital for emergency surgery. I had a haemorrhage ulcer. When the surgeon got to taking care of my ulcer they discovered a tumor. Turned out to exist cancer. I'm am still going through numerous CT scans and tests. So far I'm 1.five years cancer gratuitous.

Proton pump inhibitors like pantoprazole has been proven through many studies that information technology has a loftier run a risk of cancer over years of usage……..nobody is talking about information technology…
Even with loftier level NDMA contaminated drugs like valsartan studies have shown that information technology is not linked to cancer….
Why are we making low levels NDMA in Ranitidine an unnecessary outcome….

Sharon Wiggins

Why is Valisure saying "alarmingly high levels of NDMA found" & FDA is maxim "very pocket-size amounts of NDMA institute."

Someone has a new medication to come out on the market cheaper to manufacture…. Different patent that they can clasp for maximum turn a profit

Donald Kelman MD

October 1, 2019

Having used ranitidine 150 QD for decades (since before the patents ran out), & realizing that higher-priced non-generics still under patents produce higher profits all downwards the line, my cynical nature raises some questions. Are all the generics going to disappear, leaving only patented, newer drugs, available, even though ranitidine has been tested by millions of the ultimate lab rats, (us), with remarkably few bug attributed. Also, do all batches take NDMA, or just some, and do all manufacturers have the upshot, or but some. Who raised the issue first — FDA or a pharma company? If pharma, do they take a more lucrative new &/or patented "heartburn drug".
("-codone" drug problems history justifies such suspicions, since they are associated with thousands of deaths, even so are still abundant on the market). It was obvious (as a neurosurgeon) that they were highly addictive early on on, withal "pain control as a vital sign" became an accreditation result for hospitals, and ensured lax controls and pressure to up the pain meds on need. Much more could be said but gets off the current topic.
Why this fear-driven data-scarce action, causing withdrawal from the market without any homo cases plant, stoking fearfulness for patients, while lethal drugs are withal tolerated on the market en masse?

PPI'southward proven to cause osteoporosis.

FDA habitually allows products containing toxins to line drug store isles.
Look upwards PPD.
Judicious to presume if info most Ranitidine leaked through claiming small-scale run a risk- we must assume major risk

Because Pharm's not trustworthy & reliable peer-reviewed double-blind meta-studies are unavailable.
Does that answer your question?
A no-brainer.

You know, the acid reflux I get and take this medication for can cause esophageal cancer if acid keeps called-for it. So what can nosotros exercise?

I have been taking zantac/generic equal in 300 mg dose force nightly for the past 30+ years along with opermazol 80 mg in the AM. This has been regiment that has kept me in check from my breadbasket & esophageal bleeding uclers. And so now they decide that there is a component in the zantac/ generic that may cause cancer.
Information technology has taken them long enough to publish information. And so if all things being equal, dose this follow that this will follow like the baby talchum powder cover upwards law suites against these drug manufactures also.

Simple. This volition proceed to happen with all drugs, OTC & Rx. Why? Our drugs are being manufactured in Bharat & Mainland china. Why? It's cheap for Big Pharma . Who is getting rich? Pharma companies!! Expect on your Rx paperwork from your pharmacy. Call Congressman, esp the House and yell- bring the drug labs back to the USA

My doctors prescribed ranitidine for me years ago.
I have a lot of tum problems. I too accept other wellness problems.
I felt more and more sick, but doctors told me NOT to cease taking information technology because my body isn't able to do what information technology's supposed to, on it's own any more, Because of taking information technology for so long.
I was never warned that it could happen, .. just told to keep taking it.

At ane point I ran out and wasn't able to refill the prescription for most 4 days.
I honestly felt a petty better off of information technology than when I took it, although my stomach acid came back.
I told the doctor, only was told to proceed taking it.
At present, later on reading about other countries banning it, .. I'one thousand honestly wondering almost always taking information technology once more !

this is only crazy I take been taking this stuff for 20 yrs and I have tried all the others and they just don't work. Now what am I going to do??

I feel exactly the same way. I take been taken for 20 years and am getting worried. My own opinion is the competitors just dont like how well it worked so they figured out a manner to get it off the market by creating a cloud of suspicions nearly i. They shouldnt exist taking it off the market. And they can spare me the b.s. well-nigh it not being off the market place. If pharmacies dont sell it that is the aforementioned equally it existence taken off the market.

I switched to famotidine which is another H2 blocker. I haven't heard that in that location are any bug with contamination with this medication. It is over the counter.

If y'all're taking ii-three a day it'south probably time to run across your Dr. and get a Rx for something meliorate that will last for 12 or 24 hours. Only go non-Zantac and yous won't accept to worry. You can get Rxs really cheap with programs similar "Proficient rx". I mean pennies on the dollar! And no Insurance! Check information technology out. You lot might become to the other form like prilosec and nexium which are PPIs. Proton pump inhibitors. I prefer the H2 histamine blockers like Zantac. Simply I only utilise it occasionally 0-three times a calendar week. I am not a Doctor. This is simply personal experience.

Does Zandoz Omeprazole 20 also accept wellness risks? I have beeb using it for years. Although I had a lap nissan.

I was taking prescription Ranitidine and at present my doc has prescribed prescription Pepcid – called Famotidine. Depending on your insurance, information technology may be a lilliputian more expensive than Ranitidine. Hope this helps you lot.

Permit me know if you find out!

I could have written your comment! I've been taking the generic from Walmart for YEARS!!!

Y'all tin can take 1 tsp. baking soda in about four-eight oz. of water.
Blistering Soda has been an onetime timers go to for many, many years. Be advised though that information technology tastes horrible, so have a glass of water to chase information technology down right after ingesting information technology. At that place are many people who volition tell yous that it's bad for you to take to much, then limit your intake.

In that location'southward a book entitled The Lost Ways 2 that will cost y'all $37.00 if you can beget it.
BTW Green Tea has Cancer Blocking properties.

I'm in the aforementioned boat – I've been taking it everyday for years for GERD. It'due south the just matter that actually worked. Now I'grand worried and need to figure out something that works…the chew-able antacids don't work as good for me.

Yes Marsha I also am panicking at the moment I've been taking Zantac for virtually xx years two times a twenty-four hour period for severe acid reflux none of the other medications worked but my doctor told me to switch to Pepcid I don't trust any of these people anymore

Relax tinker bell…..not fifty-fifty proven to be malignant in humans…..

Consume radishes for your heartburn/Gerd it helps, very effective

I am correct with you I would have 3 150mg 3 x a day I take gerd actually bad from surgeries in my throat. I'thou going crazy right now trying to become into a medico to detect out what to practise

I take 300 upwardly to twice a day. I am not worried about it.

I been taking ranidine from Walmart for nigh 14 yrs at present , 2 to 4 tablets daily , then what practise I practise now ? Am I at chance for some kind of cancer , someone let me know if I am supposed to go with a medico or lawyer to see if 14 yrs of taking this stuff has had its toll on me or not

I concur with y'all Marsha I accept been ownership mine from Walmart for years, a few years ago I read information technology was non adept to take Previced or Prilosec merely Zantac was a improve choice now I hear this
everything seems to exist bad now ,the medicine ,food, air, water. Like you said now what ??

I accept been taking 150mg of ranitidine every twenty-four hours for a little over a twelvemonth equally it helps me with my gallbladder issues. Kinda scared to stop taking it as if I miss one dose I become nauseated and feel like crap that for a few days until I become dorsum on track and I'm terrified to stop taking information technology. Has anyone used it for similar reason? I don't want to get gallbladder removed equally doctors think that is reason why I feel nauseated but I don't have gallstones. Hida scan says 92% effective. I need the zantac!

Since it has been identified information technology will exist removed. You tin can get back
to taking it soon.

The preservatives in our food tin can cause cancer besides. Besides, the insecticides they spray on our food and chemicals in our water supply… Not treating acrid reflux increases your risk of cancer besides.

It would be useful to know what to equate this risk to. For example, acrylamide produced past frying carbs (chips, French chips etc) in oil is also carcinogenic but no i is talking about endmost downwardly McDonalds.

I agree. This is the data people need to make a proper determination. If you took no chances on anything yous wouldn't get out the firm because you could be knocked down.

Zantac has been my go to med for xv years. I overspice, over potable , and over java. Realizing Zantac is there!
But now Zantac won't exist there. Sounds like back to alka seltzer or baking soda or lifestyle change.
Lamentable.

And so how about Rx liquid Ranitidine given to children? Is the carcinogen found just in tablet class?

September 30, 2019

I'm wondering this exact same thing every bit my x week onetime son takes it. Currently squirreling the internet in hopes of finding boosted information.

Judith Bernz

In all forms. Read all info on web.
Canada & French republic accept recalled ALL FORMS OF RANATIDINE

What about the many women who took this drug during their pregnancies? How will nosotros know how this affected our unborn babies? How do we keep track of developments ?

Hayley

September 30, 2019

Currently six months meaning and accept 2 tablets twice a day! Freaking out.

I am wondering the same thing. I took Zantac regularly while I was pregnant with my son and he at present is taking it at five months old.

Alicia Kelley

Yeah, I want to know equally well! I took a lot of it while pregnant and then they prescribed it to my baby for the first 8months of his life. I'm so scared!

I accept been taking ranitidine for many years. I have been diagnosed with lymphoma. Is lymphoma a cancer that can occur by taking ranitidine I'chiliad very worried equally none of my Drs accept told me about this.

Is NDMA in the liquid, prescription course of Ranitadine or only pill form?

Jay Barone

It has been establish in the OTC dose of 75 mg and 150 mg.
Tablets. No word on the liquid.

September 29, 2019

Zantac has been around ,for 2 generations Why just this month The Alarm?

Possibly because information technology can accept a long time for some issues to show, that did not prove during clinical trials. Hence, always be sceptical of the corking new wonder drug – it probably hasn't been tested properly or for long enough.

I take taken 600mg for 14 years. Never had heartburn my rheumatologist put me on it to protect stomach from RA drugs side effects……. this is unnerving!!! Just found out in last calendar month my kidney office tests were a bit off. Dr said will recheck in 3 months.

Obaid Ali

September 29, 2019

2.5 mg NDMA was found in 150 mg tablet of ranitidine which is 26000 times greater than the permissible limit, if taken one tablet per day. The typical recommended dose for peptic ulcer disease in adults is 150 mg twice daily for four – 8 weeks followed by maintenance dose of 150 mg once daily. In this way, v mg NDMA is consumed per day that is total 280 mg if used for eight weeks. It can attain exposure of up to 1 Gm in a year which is alarming. Studies published in peer review scientific literatures reveal the being of dangerous levels of NDMA in the urine of those who had taken Ranitidin.

MaryAnn DiBartolo

September 30, 2019

I accept been taking Zantac for over 20 yrs practise i have to stop taking it ?? I don't take it everyday maybe 3 times a calendar week

Robert Kaus

October 7, 2019

Obaid, did you make that up? Every bit far as I know, no ane has published the amount of NDMA found. ii.5 mg seems unlikely. Yous'd be talking about ten% decomposition specifically to this one impurity.

Also, nosotros don't know what a dangerous level is for this molecule. It is very carcinogenic to mice and rats, but wasn't carcinogenic at all to monkeys (run into Berkeley's Carcinogenic Authorisation Projection).

Mary lain

September 28, 2019

I accept been on prescription ranitidine for ix years 300 mg 4 x daily .thats a very large dose.

Beverly Miller

October 1, 2019

Oh wow, I too am freaking out!!

Are you taking over the counter ??? The prescription stuff should be fine this is affecting over the counter stuff that is what my pharmacy told me

"It is important to know that the NDMA in ranitidine products does non pose any immediate health risks. Neither the FDA nor Novartis/Sandoz or Apotex have received any reports of agin events related to NDMA found in ranitidine. Although classified equally a probable carcinogen, NDMA may cause cancer just afterwards exposure to high doses over a long period of time. NDMA is one of the same impurities that was plant in certain heart medications beginning concluding year and that resulted in the recall of many products."
Given the ubiquity of some carcinogens in the environment, PCBs, TCDD, organophosphates, 2,4-D, et al, why would anyone want to hazard orally ingesting fifty-fifty a little bit of another? Has no ane at Harvard ever heard of synergistic furnishings?
While I can understand health care providers wanting patients to go along taking, for example, some types of "center" medication, wouldn't you be serving your patients best by working/lobbying, etc., to find a better source of medications? Or pushing for essential meds to be made in the US AND have strict regulatory enforcement of manufacture of those medications?

Daphne

September 28, 2019

Exactly. And what is a "high dose" or a "long menstruum of time" ?

Ellen Kurtti

September 30, 2019

I accept been on the generic Zantac for 1 year at 300 mgs a mean solar day prescribed past my Dr'south!!!!
I quit and went to Pepcid.
Fed up!!!

Dr Shilpa reddy

September 28, 2019

[ix/27, 3:29 PM] Shilpa reddy: NDMA in Ranitidine is at a very depression dose level equal to what is found in meat, bacon, drinking h2o ,beer, dairy products etc …

1. There is no proof of NDMA causing cancer at the dosage levels information technology is consumed through drug use.
ii. Some articles suggest that NDMA "may" cause cancer in i in 8000 people who take medication for a continuous use !
iii. Ofcourse, patient safety is most important, but it seems like the large guys are backside this stuff to trample generic drug makers ( who manufacture other acidity drugs )
Just to clarify.. A few days of these drugs don't cause harm. In fact they may save you from serious gastritis. Long term apply.. As in months and years causes the lining of the stomach to article of clothing off. This is a take a chance for cancer.

Sharon Wiggins

September 30, 2019

I take been on 300mgs a day for seven years for severe acid reflux. You lot're proverb my stomach lining has worn off by this and I am at risk for cancer?

If and then, how much of a risk given amounts I accept taken.

I took it so my stomach lining and esophagus lining would not rear downwards and create esophageal cancer!

Most people have a prescribed drug for more than 'a few days', specially this type of drug. A friend doesn't similar drugs of any sort, and is on a highly restrictive (i.e. boring) nutrition to avoid taking these drugs. It sounds as if she is right. Does long term employ of things like bisodol also affect the lining of the stomach, if you take gastritis (which is hard to cure)? Is a deadening diet (like my friends – no spices, no booze etc) – the respond?

Linda Niemi

October 2, 2019
